The last major job on the Lotus Carlton was to build a bespoke 2.5″ exhaust system as I was never happy with how the Powerflow exhaust system looked. Although it was ‘professionally’ installed it just wasn’t to my liking. First stage was to make the downpipes, then wrap these with Kevlar as the heat soak into the transmission tunnel was quite bad, so any reduction will be welcome. Add to that the restored heat shields hopefully means my left leg wont cook on long journeys! 🥵 The rest of the exhaust is fitted with race style catalytic converters, Original sized middle boxes (instead of small Powerflow units) and the original back box which I removed the internals and fitted 2.5″ tubing ends. After loosing his storage for his project, a friend was faced with having to potentially sell off his labour of love. So I offered for him to store it at my yard until such time he found somewhere else. Time went on (2 yrs 🤣) and his life altered with more children, new business and a busy life it was soon apparent that the project would be long time before it would progress so he entrusted the work to me to get it back on track.
