At last the chassis on the ’54 Chevy 3600 starts to take shape. Axle location & suspension components built at the desired ride height. Protech shocks were asked to build the shock absorbers for this truck, based on similar builds in the USA the spring rates were calculated and the bodies made to the length required to package things neatly. Air bag assister springs being used to level the suspension for when the truck is towing or carrying heavier loads. The front end adopts the Jaguar XJ40 front subframe with its double wishbone suspension. Again Protech shocks used on custom fabricated shock towers built into the chassis. Custom fabricated steel mounts take care of attaching the Jaguar subframe to the Chevy chassis. Further work on the Fergie project. Come a long way from when it was found. Second hand original parts sourced where possible, new parts where old bits weren’t available at the time, but it was finally time to make it run again, and she didn’t disappoint. First turn of the key and the Perkins 3 cylinder struck up, no smoke and ticked over perfectly. A small update on Jared’s coupe. To accommodate the huge tyres the wheel arches had to be ‘massaged’ but we found one to be 1″ further back than the opposite side! 🤷‍♂️, so that needed to come off and be re-positioned to allow the wheel to go on and turn! At least each side is now the same.
